Jetton Road in Cornelius and Brawley School Road in Mooresville have garnered attention for their collections of flagship waterfront estate homes for years. So, where are Lake Norman’s emerging locations and new hot spots for custom homes and redevelopment? We asked our expert agents to identify the lake’s up-and-coming locations, and here is a collection of our top 10 emerging hot spots.
Big Indian Loop | Mooresville
Big Indian Loop is located in an area that still exudes Lake Norman’s initial “weekender” charm, with a rolling shoreline, tree canopy, and easy proximity to Mooresville and I-77. Homeowners can find a home near Lake Norman without paying lakefront prices. The area consists of everything from waterfront lots to custom homes. Many of the lots are private, with just over half an acre in size, and this street is just minutes away from shopping and dining. While located on a quiet cove, the sunset views are unique, and there’s no HOA.
John Gamble Road & Country Club Drive | Cornelius
Are you dreaming of enjoying those lake breezes and extensive water sunset views? Many of the homes on John Gamble Road and Country Club Drive in Cornelius have been renovated recently, giving the neighborhood a new vibe. While the secret is out in this area, there are still some big water views with “tear down” options and easy access to shopping and center city Charlotte. The community is tucked away at the end of Torrence Chapel Road and remains a quiet area for families. You can bike or walk to Fresh Market, Fresh Chef, shopping, and Torrence Chapel road park, with tennis, baseball fields, basketball courts, and walking trails.
Greyfriars Road | Mooresville
Greyfriars Rd is an up-and-coming area with new luxury builds all around and on this street. Agent Jackie Morgan knows the area well and describes what’s so special about it. “Just beyond The Point community, this location offers spacious waterfront lots with spectacular long-range views of Lake Norman. The convenient location of all the facets of the lake makes it a highly desirable location for boaters. Also, no HOA, but one of the most prestigious golf clubs in the greater Charlotte area, Trump National, is just a couple miles down the road.”
Lake Shore Road North & South | Denver
Agent Susan Dolan, who lives in Denver and is an expert in the area, says, “Lake Shore Road is one of the most beautiful roads on Lake Norman. It meanders all along the lake, is lined with trees, and has every architectural style home you could imagine. It is a beautiful and often overlooked area.” This area, known as Westport, has some of the oldest homes on the lake. Susan says many homeowners are updating by adding additions and doing significant overhauls to their existing homes.
Stonemarker East Road | Mooresville
South of The Point and sporting some of Lake Norman’s most picturesque waterfront settings, this treelined area is seeing continued redevelopment yet offers access to local private club living and year-round big water views.
Burton Lane in Denver
Burton Lane is located in the impressive and scenic Westport Peninsula, neighboring Governor’s Island and Sailview, just 30 minutes from Charlotte. Many older ranch homes are being renovated or torn down to make room for new builds, lots are on the larger side, and A public boat launch is close by for access to lake living.
Ponderosa Circle | Mooresville
Fall in love with sunsets and sandy beaches along this Lake Norman shoreline. Conveniently located off I-77 Exit 33, in a desirable area without traffic and congestion, near two popular waterfront restaurants, King Canary Brewing, and shopping, this area offers a beautiful way to enjoy the lake life. Poderosa Circle has no HOA, and many of the lots offer big views of a quiet part of the lake and neighborhood boat slips.
Camino Real Rd | Mooresville
Camino Real Road has a secluded rural feel but is close to everything. Many of the larger lots at the end of the road enjoy sweeping views of Lake Norman and are located on deep water. No HOA and deeded boat slips are available for many off-water homes. You can find a variety of home styles here, from a log cabin to Northeastern style and modern.
